Mariam Naba

    Texas-based artist and photographer aims to introduce the concepts of language and communication throughout paintings, photography and performance throughout the use of various color pallets and texture techniques to offer a sense of abstraction in each art piece. The abstract pieces allows the viewers to come to their own conclusions and sense of perception of the pieces. The artwork is described to be unique in their efforts to develop an individual meaning that connects to each viewer. Performance pieces have become one of the most expressive aspects of her mixed art pieces as they showcase a great deal of emotions and a sense of depth in the concept being presented. Mining the significance in language and communication barriers throughout paintings, performance art pieces, and photography.Living in Arlington, Tx since the age of 18 years, Mariam Naba holds two degrees from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), BFA in Painting and BFA in photography. Her work has been portrayed in UTA galleries, in addition to a detailed interview at Voyage Dallas Magazine that describes her childhood, her early and upcoming artist years, and the major concepts and purpose she hopes to portray throughout her artwork. My purpose with this work is to introduce and inform viewers about Deaf Culture, and to bring a new perspective to the hearing viewer.American Sign Language is very visual, and uses the entire body. It takes the questions and information you hope to convey, limits the words, and expands the facial expressions.
